Samplowanie

Jest to czynność polegająca na użyciu w utworze muzycznym fragmentu bądź fragmentów istniejącego już innego utworu (fragment ten nazywamy samplem). W muzyce rozrywkowej (głównie w muzyce elektronicznej, hip-hopie, R&B, ale czasem też w innych gatunkach muzycznych) niezwykle często zdarza się, że artyści korzystają z urywków starszych nagrań, aby użyć ich w swojej nowej piosence. Samplowanie dokonywane jest przeważnie za pomocą urządzenia zwanego samplerem, chociaż możliwe są także inne metody (np. użycie płyty winylowej i fonografu).

Soca

Jest to jeden z podgatunków muzyki tanecznej, którego korzeni należy doszukiwać się w wyspiarskim Trinidadzie i Tobago. Cieszy się popularnością przede wszystkim w krajach zlokalizowanych w regionie Karaibów i tam też zasadniczo powstają piosenki uznawane za soca. Gatunek ten zawiera elementy innego muzycznego nurtu, tj. afrokaraibskiego calypso. Soca to swoiste połączenie rytmicznej melodii (usłyszymy tu dźwięki typowe dla Wysp Karaibskich) z wyraźnymi brzmieniami perkusji.
