Od czasu, gdy świat po raz pierwszy ujrzał teledysk Michaela Jacksona do przeboju „Thriller” (a miało to miejsce w 1983 r.), całkowicie zmienił się sposób postrzegania znaczenia teledysków. Nagle zorientowano się, że są one jedną z najskuteczniejszych metod promocji muzyki. Zdano sobie sprawę z faktu, że klip z pomysłowo przedstawioną fabułą, z odpowiednimi efektami wizualnymi, w którym – mówiąc krótko – coś się dzieje, nadaje muzyce nowy wymiar, uzupełnia ją, a przede wszystkim ułatwia piosence dotarcie do odbiorcy. Od tego momentu zaczęto zatem przywiązywać większą wagę do jakości i atrakcyjności teledysku, na pozytywne efekty czego nie musieliśmy długo czekać. W ten oto sposób Michael Jackson stał się symbolem nowej (i trwającej po dziś dzień) ery, w której teledysk jest nieodzownym elementem promocji piosenek.
Wiele się jednak zmieniło od czasów „Thrillera”, gdyż wraz z rozwojem techniki klipy stawały się niejednokrotnie coraz to bardziej „naładowane” komputerowymi, niekiedy bardzo futurystycznymi efektami, przypominając dzięki temu krótkie filmy science fiction. Zresztą wystarczy porównać tu „Thrillera” z wydanym również przez Jacksona, tyle że 12 lat później, najdroższym teledyskiem wszech czasów do utworu „Scream”. Oba dzieła dzieli przepaść, jeżeli brać pod uwagę chociażby użytą technologię.
Warto przywołać tu również ostatni klip Lady Gagi „Bad romance”, który futuryzmem i swą „plastikowością” wręcz elektryzuje. Innymi słowy, 26 lat, a taka wielka różnica w pojmowaniu atrakcyjności teledysku, ponieważ – trzeba przyznać – zarówno „Thriller” z lat 80., „Scream” z lat 90., jak i współczesny klip do „Bad romance” to dzieła, które oddziałują niebywale na widza, a co za tym idzie, są nieodzownym elementem utworów, które promują, gdyż – w mojej opinii – żadna z tych kompozycji ani w połowie nie zdobyłaby takiej popularności, którą zapewniają im ciekawie wykreowane do nich obrazy.
Jaki jednak byłby teledysk, gdyby artysta wykonujący utwór nie zdecydowałby się na zatrudnienie dobrego reżysera, którego cechuje niezbędny przymiot filmowca, a mianowicie: pomysłowość? Najczęściej wspominając o klipie, który przykuł naszą uwagę, nie zastanawiamy się nad tym, że jest on przecież wytworem wyobraźni nie samego muzyka, a kogoś zza kamery. Pomyślałem więc, że mój blog jest dobrym miejscem, aby przywołać tu nazwiska najważniejszych twórców teledysków ostatnich kilkunastu lat, którym zawdzięczamy wiele niezapomnianych muzycznych obrazów. Zachęcam do zapoznania się z (wybiórczą) listą klipów, których są twórcami, a ponadto sugeruję zapamiętać ich nazwiska bądź pseudonimy, gdyż najpewniej jeszcze nie jeden cieszący nasze oczy teledysk będziemy im zawdzięczać.
