Po osobnych postach podsumowujących to, co działo się w playliście brytyjskiej stacji radiowej BBC Radio 1 w I, II oraz III kwartale 2012 roku, nadeszła pora, by podsumować ten okres całościowo.
Podsumowanie 2012 roku uwzględnia okres:
– od dnia 4 stycznia 2012 r. (wtedy bowiem nastąpiła pierwsza w 2012 r. zmiana w stopniach rotacji)
– do dnia 1 stycznia 2013 r. (do tego dnia – włącznie z nim – obowiązywała ostatnia zmiana w stopniach rotacji z 2012 r.).
W związku z tym, że nie wszystkim ten cykl musi być znany, tradycyjnie przypominam podstawowe informacje na temat playlisty BBC Radio 1, co powinno znacznie ułatwić odczytanie przeprowadzonej przeze mnie analizy.
Wpis podsumowujący rok 2011 znajdziecie pod tym adresem.
Budowa playlisty
*W BBC Radio 1 co tydzień wprowadzane są zmiany w playliście. W każdą środę na stronie internetowej stacji (bbc.co.uk/radio1/playlist) pojawiają się zaktualizowane informacje na ten temat. Analizę przeprowadzam, bazując na zamieszczanych w tym miejscu danych.
*W BBC Radio 1 można wyróżnić 3 regularne stopnie rotacji, tj. 3 różne częstotliwości, z jakimi na antenie emitowane są poszczególne utwory, a ponadto 2 specjalne kategorie:
1) stopień rotacji A – powerplaye; utwory grane z największą częstotliwością:
– przeważnie było to aż 19 tytułów, chociaż przez 3 pierwsze tygodnie 2012 r. (okres od 4 stycznia, od 11 stycznia oraz od 18 stycznia) wyjątkowo było ich 20; zmiany zaszły 22 sierpnia, kiedy rotację A zawężono do 15 tytułów;
2) stopień rotacji B – utwory grane z mniejszą częstotliwością niż te z rotacji A:
– co do zasady w każdym tygodniu było ich 16, chociaż w trzecim tygodniu 2012 r. (okres od 18 stycznia) wyjątkowo było ich tylko 14; za to od 22 sierpnia pojawiają się one w liczbie 15 (inaczej było tylko w playliście obowiązującej od 26 grudnia 2012 r. – 14);
3) stopień rotacji C – najniższy stopień rotacji; utwory grane rzadziej niż te z 2 opisanych powyżej stopni rotacji:
– przeważnie jest ich 10, ale w pierwszych tygodniach 2012 r. wyglądało to przeróżnie: w pierwszym tygodniu roku (okres od 4 stycznia) było ich tylko 8, w drugim tygodniu roku (okres od 11 stycznia) było ich 7, natomiast w trzecim tygodniu roku (okres od 18 stycznia) było ich 9; później sytuacja się ustabilizowała (10);
4) „New Music We Trust List” – od 22 sierpnia 2012 r. 5-tytułowa, a wcześniej co do zasady 4-tytułowa (wyjątkowo zdarzało się jednak, że składała się ona z 3 albo nawet 2 tytułów) lista utworów, które nie trafiły do regularnej playlisty, a grane są po to, by zaprezentować słuchaczom artystów najczęściej mało jeszcze na Wyspach Brytyjskich popularnych, w których potencjał wierzy redakcja BBC Radio 1:
– niektóre utwory grane w ramach tej kategorii, którą w dalszej części tekstu będę oznaczał w skrócie jako „new”, trafiają później do regularnej playlisty, a pozostałe po kilku tygodniach (czasem już po tygodniu) znikają z anteny, by ewentualnie utorować drogę do playlisty kolejnym singlom danego artysty;
5) kategoria „BBC Introducing” – rola tej „etykietki” przyznawanej przez BBC Radio 1 jest podobna do roli, jaką pełni kategoria „New Music We Trust List”, choć przeważnie w ramach „BBC Introducing” prezentowani są artyści jeszcze mniej rozpoznawalni w Wielkiej Brytanii niż ci obejmowani listą „new”; prócz tego promocja w ramach „new” jest zdecydowanie bardziej intensywna, a „BBC Introducing” jest raczej jedynie formą sygnalizacji, że na jakiegoś artystę warto zwrócić uwagę; co do zasady każdy tydzień przynosi 1 utwór mało znanego artysty promowany pod szyldem „BBC Introducing”; zupełnie wyjątkowo zdarza się, że piosenka objęta tą kategorią przeskakuje później do kategorii wyższej czy do regularnej playlisty; wyjątkowo zdarzyć się może jednak tak, że piosenka po tym krótkim czasie zostanie podniesiona do wyższej kategorii (w 2012 r. zdarzyło się to 1 raz).
Uwagi wprowadzające do podsumowania
Poniżej znajduje się alfabetyczna lista utworów (ułożonych nazwami artystów), które w 2012 r. pojawiały się w playliście BBC Radio 1 w stopniach rotacji A, B lub C, ewentualnie jako „new” bądź „introducing”. W 2012 r. były łącznie 543 takie tytuły.
Kilka dodatkowych uwag:
I) Przy każdym tytule podaję, ile tygodni roku 2012 spędził on w playliście stacji.
II) Problem miałem z utworami z przełomu grudnia 2011 r. i stycznia 2012 r. Stacja BBC Radio 1 w okresie od 13 grudnia 2011 r. do 4 stycznia 2012 r. nie dokonywała na swojej stronie aktualizacji playlisty. Potraktowałem to jako sygnał dla mnie, że przez ten okres stacja po prostu nie modyfikowała playlisty, ale jako że taki 3-tygodniowy okres stagnacji utrudnia mi prowadzenie statystyk, a jednocześnie z perspektywy oceny roku 2012 nie ma znaczenia kluczowego, przy utworach, które jednocześnie gościły w playliście w okresie od 13 grudnia, jak i w pierwszej playliście z roku 2012, zamiast informacji, ile tygodni 2011 r. dany utwór spędził w playliście, podaję, ile „razy” do końca 2011 r. w playliście się pojawiał (gdzie 1 raz = 1 modyfikacja playlisty). Wszystkie takie „problematyczne” tytuły oznaczyłem w sposób następujący: **, a także wypisałem je osobno w końcówce podsumowania.
III) Problem miałem również z utworami objętymi rotacją od 12 grudnia 2012 r. Stacja BBC Radio 1 od tego dnia do 26 grudnia 2012 r. nie dokonywała zmian w playliście. Innymi słowy, playlista z tego okresu obowiązywała wyjątkowo 2 tygodnie, nie zaś 1 tydzień. Podając liczbę tygodni w playliście, ten długi okres zakwalifikowałem jako „1 tydzień”, ale żebyście mogli wg uznania dodać sobie ten 1 brakujących tydzień, każda taka piosenka została stosownie oznaczona (jak – o tym niżej).
IV) Przy każdym tytule podaję ponadto informację, do którego ze stopni rotacji maksymalnie zdołał on dotrzeć do końca 2012 r. Dodatkowo warto mieć na uwadze to, że utwory grane w BBC Radio 1 nie skaczą po stopniach rotacji w obu kierunkach. Oznacza to, że utwór będący w jednym tygodniu w niższym stopniu rotacji może w kolejnym tygodniu: albo w nim pozostać, albo awansować do wyższego stopnia rotacji, albo na wypaść z rotacyjnej playlisty. Taka jest zasada. Ale pod koniec roku dwukrotnie się od niej wyłamano – o tym jednak napiszę później.

* – utwór, który znajdował się w playliście obowiązującej od 12 grudnia 2012 r., a ta wyjątkowo obowiązywała nie przez 1, lecz 2 tygodnie (czyli jeżeli podaję przy takim tytule informację, że przebywał on w playliście np. „5 tygodni”, możecie dopisać sobie do tego dodatkowy tydzień),
