Bardziej odpowiednie byłoby jednak nazwanie tego rankingu: 50 najpopularniejszych piosenek o seksie, bowiem zestawienie sporządzono na podstawie tego, jak piosenki traktujące o seksie radziły sobie w notowaniach The Billboard Hot 100 w okresie od 4 sierpnia 1958 r. do 16 stycznia 2010 r.
Przy każdej z piosenek magazyn wskazał fragment tekstu, który – zdaniem pisma – jest najmocniej naładowany seksualnymi treściami. W nawiasach podaję najwyższą lokatę, jaką na liście osiągnął dany utwór, oraz rok, w którym do tej pozycji dotarł.

Z kolei Miley Cyrus też nie wydaje się (mówiąc kolokwialnie) ociekać seksem. Poza tym to stosunkowo młoda osoba (niedawno ukończyła 17 lat), dlatego dałbym jej jednak jeszcze trochę czasu zanim uwzględniłbym ją w rankingu najseksowniejszych gwiazd. Wyniki tego plebiscytu dowodzą, że Britney Spears, mimo wielu ekscesów, których była uczestnikiem, nadal jest kochana przez Amerykanów, którzy wiele są w stanie jej wybaczyć. Podsumowując, komentowane głosowanie to nic innego, jak konkurs mierzący popularność wokalistek w USA – tak należy wytłumaczyć brak kilku innych seksownych artystek, które albo w ostatnim czasie były mniej aktywne (np. Jennifer Lopez) albo ich muzyczne dokonania spotkały się z niedostatecznym zrozumieniem fanów (np. Ciara). Takie są jednak uroki tego typu plebiscytów – nie ma więc powodu, by podchodzić do nich zbyt poważnie.
